FAQs

  • Can I arrange for my skip to be collected at the time of ordering another skip?

Yes, please place a new order and you will be given the option to advise us of your skip that requires collection.

  • Can I dispose of my furniture in a skip?

Due to Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) regulations, certain pieces of furniture – such as upholstered furniture – are not accepted in skips. Some items – such as mattresses – may require special arrangements or will incur extra charges. Please contact our team for further details prior to booking a skip for your furniture.

  • Can I hire a skip for asbestos waste?

Hazardous waste such as asbestos must not be disposed of in a regular skip due to the associated dangers. Here at Enfield Skips, we work closely with a fully licensed asbestos removal company that will assist with the removal of all unwanted asbestos from your property. It will then be securely transported and handled at our own transfer station.

  • Can I move a skip once it’s been placed?

Due to the safety implications involved, you cannot move a skip yourself once it’s been placed. You can give us a call to ask for a reposition but this can incur an additional cost and the access must be clear.

  • Can I pay by credit card?

We accept all types of credit and debit cards.

  • Can the skip be left on the road?

Yes, we are licensed to leave skips safely on a public highway although we will need to apply for a separate license from the local council. This can take up to a week for approval.

  • Do I need a skip hire permit?

If your skip is being placed on the street outside your home, you will require a skip permit. Large skips, such as our 14-yard skip, will need to be placed on a driveway and cannot be placed on a road due to their size.

  • Do you offer assistance with skip hire permits?

Yes, in cases where a skip permit is required, we can organise this for you. It’s worth noting that this is dependent on your local council and whether there are any parking restrictions on the road (e.g. residents parking permit). You will need to state this during the booking process, so that we can advise accordingly.

  • How do I prepare for a skip arrival?

After you have discussed the right size and permits at the point of booking your skip, you will need to make sure you have the necessary access for the skip to be delivered. Make sure you are familiar with what waste can and can’t go in the skip to avoid a penalty.

  • How long can I hire a skip for?

We provide anything from one day to two weeks hire which can be made flexible to you. Contract hire can also be arranged.

  • I have a small or tight driveway. Can I still hire a skip from Enfield Skip Hire?

We have various smaller sized skips and vehicles that may be suitable, however we are also licensed to leave skips safely on a public highway.

  • What can’t I put in the skip?

Due to government regulations, the following items are NOT to be disposed of in a skip:

    • Fires
    • Tyres
    • Paints
    • Oils
    • Chemicals
    • TV’s
    • Gas Bottles
    • Fridge / Freezers
    • Plasterboard
    • Asbestos
    • Needles
    • Mattresses
    • Silage Wrap
  • What happens if I overfill the skip?

If your skip has been overfilled, we will be unable to take it away until it has been levelled out. We do offer an exchange service, so we can collect the skip once it has been levelled out and drop off an empty one for you to fill with the surplus waste.
